When you "delete" files from an Aperture library in Decloner, the files are not actually removed, because Aperture doesn't allow external applications to do that. Instead Decloner assigns them the keyword Duplicate, so that you can review and delete those files manually from Aperture, or restore them back into the library.
To delete duplicate images from an Aperture library
-
In the staging area, select the files to delete that are located in an Aperture library.
To select an individual file, click it once.
To select multiple files, hold down the Command key ⌘ and click files one after another.
-
To delete selected Aperture files, click the Delete button. Wait until Decloner finishes communicating with Aperture. If Aperture wasn't running, you should see Decloner launch it to delete the files.
Note that you cannot stop Decloner while it communicates with Aperture.
If the files you selected are located in different Aperture libraries, Decloner will attempt to relaunch Aperture for each library to delete files in it. Please allow sufficient time for this operation to complete.
Delete & Link feature is not available for files in Aperture library. If your selection contains such files, the Delete & Link button is disabled.
-
Switch to Aperture and create a smart album, selecting files by the keyword Duplicate to see the files Decloner has marked for deletion. Review and delete, or restore the duplicate files manually as you see fit.
If you have bought Decloner on the Mac App Store
- Decloner can only delete files from the currently active Aperture library (the one currently shown in Aperture). If the staging area contains files from an Aperture library that is different from the currently active Aperture library, those files cannot be deleted and will be grayed out. If your selection contains such files, the Delete and Delete & Link action buttons will be disabled. To deselect files that cannot be deleted, click the Fix Selection button which becomes visible in this case.
